How Congress can help millions of Californians who can’t afford health care | Opinion
As a former member of the California Assembly and a ranking member of the Budget Subcommittee on Health and Human Services, as well as a proud combat veteran, I’ve witnessed firsthand the struggles many Americans face in accessing affordable health care. The national health care affordability crisis is at an all-time high, impacting people and their employers alike: An estimated 91 million people report that they can’t currently access the care or prescription medicine they need. Even those with insurance are increasingly drowning in medical bills, as tax-advantaged health care savings tools remain out of reach and unknown for many.

Congressman Blake Moore Reintroduces Bipartisan Legislation to Increase Health Care Savings for Americans
Congressman Blake Moore (R-UT) reintroduced the bipartisan Health Out-of-Pocket Expense (HOPE) Act for the 119th Congress. The HOPE ACT will create a tax-advantaged account that enables millions of Americans with most types of insurance coverage to save for health care costs through both individual and employer contributions. Congressman Moore was joined by Congressman Jimmy Panetta (D-CA), Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Congressman Raul Ruiz (D-CA), Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE), and Congressman Brad Schneider (D-IL) in reintroducing this bill.
